Saab 32 Lansen's overall dimensions include a length of 15m (49 ft 0 in), wingspan of 13m (42 ft 8 in), height of 4.65m (15 ft 3 in) and a wing area of 37.4 square meters (403 sq ft). During its long operational life, the Saab 32 also served as an electronic warfare platform and target-tug aircraft.

November 3 marks the 70th anniversary of the Saab 32 Lansen aircraft. The Lansen made history by being Sweden's first supersonic aircraft. A total number of 455 were produced, and the Lansen remained in operational use by the Swedish Air Force until 1997.

As Sweden's first multirole fighter, the Saab J32 Lansen was a ground-attack platform, all-weather fighter, reconnaissance bird, electronic countermeasures aircraft, and air sampler, from the 1950s until at least as recently as 2010. Tarangus' J32B/E is its second 1/72 scale kit.

Like the J 32AD, the J 32U was not selected for production. A total of 450 Ransoms were produced from 1953 to 1959. When Sweden became the sole operator of Lansen, they deployed the system to some extent in no less than 13 Flygvapnet squadrons: F1, F3, F4, F6, F7, F11, F13, F14, F15, F16, F17 and F21.

Soon after entering squadron service, the J 32 Lansen broke the sound barrier on 25 October 1953 when a production aircraft exceeded Mach 1 in a shallow dive. The J 32 carried four 30 mm ADEN cannons while the A 32 ("A" stands for attack) had an armament of four 20 mm Bofors m/49 cannon and the Rb 04C anti-ship missile, one of the earliest of its type in western service.

As a second-generation aircraft, Saab 32 Lansen has many versions, but there is a special version J 32E - specialized for electronic warfare / electronic countermeasure (ECM) with G-24 jamming systems, used to jam enemy ground radar. There are also external jamming devices like Adrian and Petrus to jam radar mounted on enemy aircraft.
